Welcome to the
Charlotte Koi Club

Ponds are opening!

Spring is officially here and we have removed our pond cover. I’m sure all of our gardens are starting to show new leaves, some trees may have already flowered, and hopefully all the koi have made it through winter in good shape. Many online sites for water plants are shipping now and our local stores should have new plants in stock soon. I am looking forward to seeing more CKC ponds this year! We still need hosts for the October and November meetings. If you can host the club, please drop me an email.

April is also the annual SPRING FLING! We will not be having a club meeting but Felicia and Carl host an all-day koi event.

            WHEN:  April 13, 2024  9:00 – 5:00

WHERE:  Felicia Santos and Carl Brinkman’s beautiful backyard

                               12114 Darby Chase Drive, Charlotte

Mark Bodycott, USA Koi, will be bringing in a fabulous selection of Japanese koi, Aqua Meds products, filtration, and other pond supplies. If you are looking for something special, message Felicia Santos as soon as possible >>  fsantos@netefex.com

In the world of showing koi, several major shows were held in March. From now until October, there is at least one koi show each month. ZNA Carolina is an online koi club that hosts its annual show in Raleigh, April 26 – 28. This koi show will have some really beautiful koi raised by hobbyists, several japanese koi vendors, goldfish, pond supplies, plants, and more. If you arrive on Friday the 26th, you will have first pick of the koi vendors and you can even enter your koi into the koi show through the vendor. On Saturday the 27th, koi judging occurs, vendor sales will continue, and a food truck will be brought on site.  If you plan to go on Sunday, make sure you get there early. The judges will have a tank side walk around explaining their decisions and discussing the quality factors of various koi. Break down starts immediately after the tank walk and everyone will be moving fast. For complete information about the ZNA Carolina Koi Show, access their website >>  znacarolina.com

I hope everyone might find a cute new koi or two for their pond at Spring Fling or the ZNA Carolina Koi Show!
