Summertime

Summer heat, thunderstorms, humidity – I’m already wishing it was fall! Thank you to Pete and Wendy Zomick for hosting the June club meeting. Our next meeting is July 12 hosted by Chris Hobart, 4036 Beresford Road, Charlotte (Foxcroft). Look for the meeting reminder email which will give you the specific meeting time that morning.

I recently attended the annual seminar for American Koi Judges Association, held this year in Washington. Our host was Wes Parker of Children of the Sun Koi. I always learn interesting things about koi at our seminars. We have presentations on various topics and participate in judging sessions. This year’s presentations included an overview of how we judge longfin koi, koi defects and deficiencies, designer koi, and changing koi appearance expectations as the koi ages. Kind of geeky topics but if interested, please ask me at the next meeting.

If you have a raffle tosai koi from our May meeting and can take a photo of it – please send the photo to me at lorivertin@gmail.com or text to 612-616-3828. It will be fun to start comparing notes on how the little koi are growing. Hope you and your ponds are staying cool and we’ll see you at the July meeting!
